Armature Bar - Shader (Steel)
About this item
The Armature Bar – Shader (Steel) is a key moving component in traditional coil tattoo machines, designed to provide the slower, heavier hit that shader setups rely on. As the coils energize, the magnetic field pulls the armature bar downward; when the circuit breaks, the springs return it upward—creating the oscillating motion that drives the needle bar.
These shader bars are made from 1018 steel, chosen for its strong magnetic response and durability in coil machine setups. Each bar measures 3/8″ wide and comes in multiple overall length options, allowing machine builders to tune the weight and balance of their shader machines. They’re available in black oxide, nickel-plated, or raw steel finishes and are made in the USA by Lucky Supply MFG.
