Celebrating Tattoo History: A Visit from "Doc" Don Lucas

Posted by Aurora Marshall on

This month, we had the honor of hosting New Orleans legend, Don Lucas, at Lucky's Tattoo Museum. Along with tattoo artist Randy Muller and the talented team at Eye Candy Tattoo.  Don took time to visit and immerse himself in the rich history our museum represents. It was an incredible moment for us, as Lucas’ contributions to the tattoo community are legendary, and his passion for documenting the art form's history aligns perfectly with our own mission.

Don Lucas, a tattoo artist for over 40 years, opened the New Orleans Tattoo Museum & Studio in the mid 2000's and is dedication to preserving tattoo history. Lucas himself credits his love for tattoo history to the early traveling tattoo artists who passed through New Orleans, a city vital to the growth of the art form due to its port status. While the NOLA Tattoo Museum now falls under the care of Adam Montegut. Lucas's private collection includes pieces from the iconic artists like Franklin Paul Rogers and George "Doc" Webb. During his visit Don was kind enough to donate a double sided flash sheet from Doc Webb to the Lucky Supply Tattoo Museum (pictured above).

We are so grateful to have had the chance to connect with such a prominent figure in the tattoo world and are excited about the continued collaboration between our communities. Having Don Lucas, Randy Muller, and Eye Candy Tattoo visit the Lucky Supply Tattoo Museum was a true privilege, and we look forward to many more visits and shared experiences in the future!
