August Book of the Month: Tattoo Master Pinky Yun: The Don Ed Hardy Collection
This month’s featured book is a 217-page tribute to the legendary Pinky Yun, created at the request of Don Ed Hardy and organized by Taki Kitamura. Inside, you’ll find Ed’s personal collection of full-color flash sheets, line drawings, and rare designs—plus pieces from Jimmy Shy of Taiwan and Jimmy Whitlock of the Lucky Tattoo Museum. From the famed “Sailor Jerry back piece” designs to candid photographs of Pinky and his Dragon Tattoo shop by John Agcaoili, every page celebrates tattoo history at its finest.
The volume also includes Pinky-inspired work and reflections from some of tattooing’s most respected names—Leo Zulueta, Doug Hardy, Bert Krak, Paul Dobleman, and more—as well as Ed Hardy’s own renowned tiger designs. Closing with Pinky’s original TattooTime interview, rare business cards, and biographical notes, this book is both a working artist’s resource and a collector’s treasure. Long live Pinky Yun.
Rest in peace, legend.
